Creativity, for me, is a way of life. Like many potters, I enjoy clay as something more than an expressive medium. Connections made with folks who share in the wood firing experience lend an additional level of satisfaction to the process of making. First encountering studio pottery as a freshman at Bethel University, St. Paul, MN, I was immediately fascinated by the process. I pursued a B.A. in Studio Art, graduating class of 1992 with an emphasis in Ceramics. I've worked as a professional studio potter in various capacities. There have been a number of warehouse studios as well as a full-time five year stint as a horticultural potter. All along, experimentation and discovery have been my muse. Presently an educator, I divide my creative energies primarily between potting, carpentry/design and teaching high school ceramics. Focused on infusing my students with a zest for the creative act, I pursue anagama-fired pottery as the cornerstone of my personal expression.
